Coach Claudio Ranieri has enjoyed Sampdoria's performances after the resumption and urges his players to keep ‘concentrated’ and steer the Blucerchiati towards safety against Parma this weekend.

Ranieri’s men resumed with three consecutive 2-1 defeats but have bounced back since the start of July, winning four of their last five matches.

“We’re a team that must be concentrated in order to play good matches,” Ranieri said at a press conference. “[A win at] Parma could mean that we are safe, so I want maximum effort from my lads.

“The derby is another game. I want to review my post-COVID Sampdoria, I like this one. You can lose, but if you know you’ve put down the performance, you’re satisfied.

Ranieri studies the opponents before he decides his starting line-up but stressed that his tactics often change ‘during the games’.

“This championship is very particular. I always try to put out a team that is most suited to my opponent,” he added. “That’s my concept.

“It’s true that during the game, based on the result and the changes available, we must adapt.”

Sampdoria are coming from four wins in five games, whilst Parma have struggled since the resumption. But Ranieri claims the Gialloblu’s results are not depicting their efforts.

“They lost four games, but I went to see how they lost them. It was by a goal’s margin or a penalty. But they were fighting and pressing.

“It will be a very difficult game.”
