Fiorentina have officially announced that Alberto Aquilani will be the new reserves coach for the upcoming 2020-21 season.
The former midfielder played at the Artemio Franchi between 2012 to 2015 and appeared 81 times, contributing 13 goals for the Viola.
Aquilani came through the youth ranks at Roma and managed to win back-to-back Coppa Italia trophies with the Giallorossi - in 2006-07 and 2007-08.
The former Italy international moved to Liverpool in 2009, but struggled with injuries during his time in England. He has since experienced spells at Juventus and Milan in Serie A, before retiring in 2019 after two more experiences abroad with Sporting CP in Portugal and a season in Spain with UD Las Palmas.
The 36-year-old started his coaching career at Fiorentina’s Under-18 team and was promoted in December to become part of first-team staff, assisting coach Beppe Iachini.
