Joao Pedro thought he’d opened the scoring with a long-range rocket of a free kick, but hadn’t realised it was an indirect award.

The Sardinians had taken the lead on the stroke of half-time through Giovanni Simeone, but only because Alessio Cragno had performed several astonishing saves, above all from point-blank range on Immobile.

Despite further Cragno heroics, Lazio eventually turned it around through a Milinkovic-Savic volley and Immobile running on to a Luis Alberto assist.

That was Immobile’s 31st Serie A goal of the season, putting him back in front of Cristiano Ronaldo in the Capocannoniere charts.
