“The team is in good form, both tactically and physically, so we must try to keep improving on every level,” said the coach in his press conference.

“We have to maintain the same ambition, as the team has found its confidence with this system. It’s true that we don’t have much time to train, but I do speak to the players and show them videos to correct errors. We are constantly working on situations that didn’t go well the first time and we can improve.”

The Giallorossi had probably their best performance of the season against Fiorentina, winning 4-1 at the Stadio Franchi in December.

“We’re not a team who man-mark, but we have zones where we must be more aggressive in the pressing. We changed our way of playing, but Fiorentina are in good shape too at the moment and just held Inter to a draw. It’s going to be a very different game to December.”

Fonseca was repeatedly asked about the potential unhappiness of players such as Edin Dzeko and Nicolò Zaniolo, not to mention Europa League preparations for Getafe, but politely batted them all away.

“There is no controversy. I always said the truth. We talked to Nicolò and everything is fine, while Dzeko is highly-motivated.”
