“The lads are motivated, a little tired, but this is an important game,” Fonseca told the official club website.

“It’s so important that I don’t want to make too many changes unless I have to. Lorenzo Pellegrini had surgery on his fractured nose and won’t be able to train with the squad for the next few days, so we’ll see how the recovery process goes.

“I have a few doubts over who will replace him behind the striker, so I’m waiting for the final training session to get a better idea of the situation.”

Torino secured their Serie A safety at the weekend with a 1-1 draw against SPAL, while Roma remain the favourites for fifth place.

“It’s going to be a difficult match against a team that always gives its all on home turf. Toro also won’t have any pressure, so that makes it trickier for us.

“Torino are strong defensively, but we are highly-motivated and want to win.”
