Roma’s Europa League opponents Sevilla have confirmed that a member of the first team has tested positive for COVID-19.
The La Liga club have announced that a member of their first team has been isolated and the team have ‘temporarily suspended training’ after a positive coronavirus test.
The news comes eight days ahead of the round of 16 clash with Roma, a match that was postponed due to the travel restrictions during the height of the coronavirus pandemic in March.
Football Espana reports that the player is asymptomatic and in good health. The news arrives shortly after Real Madrid forward Mariano Diaz tested positive for the virus.
“Sevilla FC immediately informed all the competent sports and health authorities of this incident, isolated the infected person, temporarily suspended training of the team and carried out disinfection activities at the facilities, strictly following the protocols established for these situations,” a statement read.
