The winger is criticised for not being prolific enough, but certainly bumped up his goal tally on Wednesday evening by hitting the back of the net three times.

Bologna actually had the better of the first half, but were unable to get past Pietro Terracciano, while Chiesa had another attempt cleared off the line by Danilo.

The goals were all after the restart, Chiesa getting the rub of the green with a deflection off Gary Medel, then beating Lukasz Skorupski at the second time of asking.

Nikola Milenkovic turned in from a corner, but Chiesa completed the hat-trick in style with a right-foot curler into the far top corner.
