Sassuolo are reportedly on the verge of bringing in another promising Turkey international, signing Kaan Ayhan from Fortuna Dusseldorf for €2.5m.
According to Calciomercato.it, later confirmed by Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the deal is practically done.
Ayhan is ready to sign a three-year contract with Sassuolo, as German club Fortuna Dusseldorf pocket €2.5m for the sale.
He is a centre-back, but can also play at right-back or in a more advanced defensive midfield role.
Born and raised in Germany, he played for both countries at youth level before choosing to commit to Turkey.
The 25-year-old now has 28 senior caps for Turkey, having also scored three goals.
Sassuolo have history with impressive Turkish players, having made a star of Merih Demiral – who went on to Juventus – while Mert Muldur has done very well this season.
