Iachini grateful for Fiorentina chance

Fiorentina coach Beppe Iachini urges his side to ‘end the season with heads held high’ and is grateful to know he’ll be on their bench next season too.

“I am very fond of Fiorentina, of Florence and of this jersey, so my confirmation for next season brings both satisfaction and joy,” Iachini told the official club website.

“I thank the President and all the directors for the faith they put in me. Clearly, we have a lot of work to do together, continuing the journey that we started in January.

“We’ve seen a group of lads work hard, improving both individually and as a team, with the potential to do far more. Obviously, the long break and the number of coronavirus cases we had didn’t help, but we kept believing in what we were doing.

“Fiorentina have the best defensive record in Serie A since the restart and now we have to improve in attack, where we still aren’t picking the final ball in the best way.

“I want to see a concentrated team in Ferrara that pushes hard to the last minute. There could also be a few experiments so we can see some different faces in action. We’ll talk about ambitions from next week, but for now we want to end this season with heads held high.”

Bartlomiej Dragowski returns, but Franck Ribery and Gaetano Castrovilli have been left out.
