Ilicic has reportedly returned to Slovenia to be with family, as he is going through a difficult time on a personal level and won’t take part in the Champions League Final Eight tournament.
“We really miss Ilicic as a person even more than a player. He’s one of the most experienced in the dressing room and a great friend. We hope to give him a little joy by taking second place.”
Gomez has also made a bet with Lazio’s Luis Alberto on who gets the most Serie A assists this season.
“We’re friends anyway and made this bet, so whoever wins will get the other to buy them dinner. I won’t deny, I’d like to win!”
