Former Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta has claimed there was a ‘pre and post Zlatan Ibrahimovic, more than a pre and post lockdown’ for the Diavolo.
Stefano Pioli’s men are unbeaten in 12 Serie A games since the resumption in June, but the former defender felt the turnaround at San Siro started in January.
Costacurta has claimed the arrival of Ibrahimovic in January helped the team achieve success in the second half of the campaign.
“I’m optimistic. The players understood the philosophy and then the possibility of performing well behind closed doors facilitated their insertion,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“Before Ibrahimovic’s arrival, Pioli travelled with the medium pace of [former coach Marco] Giampaolo, then when Zlatan arrived, he doubled the pace.
“For me, there’s a pre and post Ibra, more than a pre and post lockdown.”
