Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti warns about ‘tough’ Atalanta and thinks La Dea ‘know how to win without Josip Ilicic’.

PSG prepare to face the Nerazzurri in the quarter-finals of the Champions League in Lisbon and Les Parisiens aim to go all the way in the competition.

“We are not yet at the top,” Verratti told Tuttosport. “We have been standing still for a long time. We still have some time to prepare but those who have been able to play continuously have a small advantage.

“We have to get to this game with clear heads. We know the value of Atalanta, they will be tough, but at this stage of the competition it’s normal.

The Orobici must cope without attacker Josip Ilicic, who scored five times over two legs against Valencia in the last 16, and Verratti thinks an Atalanta without the Slovenia international can be compared to a Juventus without Cristiano Ronaldo or a Barcelona without Lionel Messi.

“His absence will weigh as much as that of Messi at Barcelona or Ronaldo at Juventus. But even without him, Atalanta know how to win.

“They have developed a system that enhances everyone despite the absences. It’s thanks to [coach Gian Piero] Gasperini and his work.”
