Roma winger Carles Perez ‘doesn’t understand’ why he had to leave Barcelona but said he’s ‘happy’ at the Olimpico.

Paulo Fonseca’s men prepare to face Sevilla in the last 16 of the Europa League and Perez, who scored his first Roma goal against Gent in the round of 32, has again claimed he was sold to the Italian capital against his will.

“I don’t understand why I left. Maybe the club needed money, but I don’t know the reason,” Perez told EFE. “I don’t think I deserved to leave.

“Since I was an academy player, I had offers to leave Barcelona. But I always said no because I wanted to play in the first team.

“However, this is now in the past, and I’m happy at Roma.”

Perez has played 16 times across all competitions for La Lupa this season, contributing two goals and three assists since his arrival.
