Miralem Pjanic wrote a goodbye message to Juventus, but none of the players have so far said a word about Maurizio Sarri’s dismissal.
The coach was fired this afternoon, a result of last night’s Champions League Round of 16 exit to Olympique Lyonnais.
It was Pjanic’s final game in the Bianconeri jersey ahead of his transfer to Barcelona.
“I challenged my past to hold on tight to the present, at least for a little while longer,” wrote Pjanic on Twitter, referring to his time as a Lyon player.
“We take separate paths today, but every centimetre we walked together to arrive at this point was travelled knowing I was part of something great, something that will remain in my heart and accompany me everywhere.”
Pjanic made no mention of Sarri’s dismissal, nor did Leonardo Bonucci in his Instagram post about the Champions League disappointment.
Curiously, there were three ‘likes’ on the Juventus post announcing Sarri had been sacked: Emre Can, Mario Mandzukic and Douglas Costa.
While Emre Can and Mandzukic never disguised the bitterness at their exit from Juve, Douglas Costa is still in the Bianconeri squad.
