Andreas Brehme claims Inter are ‘without doubt the Europa League favourites, followed by Bayer Leverkusen, but both are stronger than Manchester United.’

Brehme spent four years at Inter from 1988-92 and was also assistant manager under Giovanni Trapattoni once he retired.

He was therefore asked to give his views ahead of tomorrow’s Europa League quarter-final between Inter and Bayer Leverkusen.

“The Nerazzurri are a great team, but Bayer Leverkusen are strong too and have an excellent player in attack like Kai Havertz. Antonio Conte has the advantage, I’d say.

“In fact, I will go so far as to say that whoever wins this quarter-final has a huge chance of lifting the Europa League trophy. The semi-final, which will be against either Shakhtar Donetsk or FC Basel, in my view should be pretty simple.

“On the other side of the tournament, I think Manchester United will reach the Final, but both Inter and Bayer are stronger than the English club.”
