Hellas Verona President Maurizio Setti reveals Marash Kumbulla was on the verge of a Napoli move in January, while Davide Faraoni ‘is also on their wish-list.’
Setti already did business with Napoli in the January transfer window, selling them defender Amir Rrahmani for €14m, although he remained on loan at the Stadio Bentegodi for the rest of the season.
“Napoli have signed a great professional who still has to express his full potential, and I am sure he’ll have that opportunity with the Azzurri,” Setti told Radio Kiss Kiss.
“Rrahmani is quick, a complete defender and I don’t think he’ll have any problem playing in a back four. He’s very intelligent and can get even stronger with the guidance of Gennaro Gattuso.”
Kumbulla is also expected to move on this summer, with interest above all from Inter, Lazio and Napoli.
“In January there already was very strong interest from Napoli, but there wasn’t much time to get the deal done and the player preferred to take some time to reflect. That is the only reason why he didn’t agree the transfer to Napoli.
“Now there are several clubs interested in him. He’s a talented lad who is destined for a career at a top club.”
Verona could well do more business with Napoli, confirms Setti.
“I spoke to (Napoli director of sport) Giuntoli several times about Faraoni, there’s no point denying that. He too has a real engine on him. I don’t know if he’ll go to Napoli in the end, but we have already talked about figures with Giuntoli and I can assure you he is on their wish-list.”
