“Anything can happen in football, especially with this Final Eight format,” Handanovic told Sky Sport Italia.

“Anything can happen in football, especially with this Final Eight format,” Handanovic told Sky Sport Italia.

“Everyone thinks it’s easy for us, but there are quality teams left in this tournament and it’s going to be a difficult match. Bayer Leverkusen have quality, are quick and have a lot of young players.

“They caused a lot of problems for clubs like Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. They’ll go for it and we have to expect a very open game.

“We must ensure that we are ready and try to take a different approach to the one we had starting our last game.”

The Nerazzurri were under pressure in the opening stages against Getafe, but emerged with a 2-0 win in the Round of 16, with goals from Romelu Lukaku and substitute Christian Eriksen.
