Juventus announced Matthijs de Ligt will be out of action for circa three months following surgery on his shoulder.
The Dutch defender’s right shoulder was dislocated in late 2019 and continued to cause problems for many months.
He was playing with strong strapping so that he could reach the end of the season and then have the necessary operation.
A statement from Juventus today confirms it was performed in Rome at the UPMC Salvator Mundi clinic in Rome.
The surgery was successful and the statement makes clear the recovery time is expected to be circa three months.
That means De Ligt won’t be able to play under new Bianconeri coach Andrea Pirlo until mid-November.
