Patron Enrico Preziosi insists that Genoa are for sale but says ‘there are no serious negotiations’ and added later that a potential buyer must do like Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso.

Reports regarding an offer from Matteo Manfredi’s Gestio Capital emerged in Italian newspapers, something that made the current owner pull out of the negotiations.

“For now, there are no serious negotiations,” Preziosi told Il Secolo XIX. “I’ll only sell Geno to those who are able to give the same guarantees put on the table by me in recent years.

“And if a negotiation is serious, it’s not done publicly.

“Since the championship started, I have suffered a lot, it has been hell. But I take my responsibilities.

“The club is for sale but until I find the right person, I will continue to work to relaunch it.”

To La Gazzetta dello Sport, he encouraged possible buyers to do like Rocco Commisso did when he bought Fiorentina.

“The club has been on sale for three years,” he told the newspaper. “Although, there are always some people interested, I have never seen real money.

“I have never seen a successful completion of a deal that was published in the newspapers first.

“I can’t wait for a reliable buyer to show up. If the fans think I don’t want to sell, they are wrong. I don’t need money for myself but the right value to be recognised for the club.

“In three months of silent negotiations, Commisso bought the Viola. When there is real money… We need discussions with people who don’t want to use Genoa to advertise."
