Spanish newspaper Sport insists Barcelona disciplinary action against Arthur Melo will continue, so he won’t be freed in time to start pre-season Juventus training on August 24.
The midfielder has already signed for Juve in a deal worth €10m plus Miralem Pjanic, but that is only active from the 2020-21 season.
Arthur refused to take part in the Champions League campaign, which has now concluded after an 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals.
Some reports had suggested Arthur therefore agreed an early contract termination, which would allow him to start pre-season training with Juventus from August 24.
However, Sport insist Barcelona won’t let him leave without some remuneration for his behaviour.
They want to impose a heavy fine on the Brazilian, even if that means dragging out his absence from Turin.
