Inter ask to push season by one week

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has presented a formal request to the Lega Serie A chief Paolo Dal Pino, hoping to push the 2020-21 season by one week.

Reports in Italy reveal the Nerazzurri have asked for more time to prepare for the new season, as Antonio Conte’s men finished the 2019-20 season on August 21 with a defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League Final.

The calendar for Serie A 2020-21 will be presented on Tuesday September 1 and the first round of fixtures should start on September 19.

If Inter are allowed to postpone their season by one week, the Nerazzurri can return to training on September 5, 6 or 7 and prepare to play in the second round of fixtures on September 26 or 27 and then recover the missing match on September 30.
