Roma have set their sights on Celtic defender Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo, but face competition from Istanbul Basaksehir.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Giallorossi are interested in the 25-year-old left-back, who can play in a more advanced role on the left flank as well.

He only joined Celtic a year ago from Rapid Vienna for €3.3m and spent most of his career in Belgium.

Bolingoli-Mbombo is the cousin of Inter hitman Romelu Lukaku and Lazio wing-back Jordan Lukaku.

The defender made 29 competitive appearances for Celtic, contributing four assists.

Roma aren’t the only side interested, as he has also caught the eye of Turkish title holders Istanbul Basaksehir.

However, Bolingoli-Mbombo is currently suspended for at least three games after breaching coronavirus protocols after flying to Spain without informing Celtic and then failing to self-isolate for the required 14 days.

Manager Neil Lennon said he was “livid” over his irresponsible behaviour, which could usher an early exit from Glasgow.
