Newcastle and West Ham target Tomiyasu

Newcastle United and West Ham have reportedly approached Bologna for defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, who was also linked with Roma and Napoli.

The Japan international plays primarily as a right-back, but can also work in central defence or even as a defensive midfielder.

He was signed from Belgian side VV Sint-Truiden last year for €9m and made a good impact in Serie A, scoring one goal and providing three assists in 29 games.

According to the Corriere di Bologna newspaper, Tomiyasu is about to spark a bidding war with the introduction of two Premier League sides.

Newcastle and West Ham are both interested in the 21-year-old, whose price-tag has now practically doubled.
