No fans in stadiums until October

A new Government decree will reportedly ban supporters from entering football stadiums until at least September 30 due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Napoli, Parma, Sampdoria and others have managed to play friendlies with up to 1,000 people in the stands, using social distancing and masks.

Juventus also sent out a dossier via the Regional assembly of Piedmont highlighting a method for getting fans safely back into the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin for the opening game of the season with Sampdoria.

However, according to the Corriere della Sera newspaper, the next Government decree valid from tomorrow will ban supporters in sporting arenas at least until September 30.

Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte also stated this weekend that gathering to watch sports while the pandemic was still present would be “inopportune.”

The schools are due to reopen in Italy over the next couple of weeks, so there is the fear of overloading the healthcare system again if too many risk factors are opened up simultaneously.
