Josip Ilicic returns to Atalanta today, after having sat out the end of 2019-20 to deal with a personal matter.
The Slovenia international decided to travel home during the summer as he was reportedly not in the right-mind to think about football towards the end of last term.
La Repubblica and La Gazzetta dello Sport hinted that Ilicic was suffering from depression, but he will rejoin the squad at Zingonia today.
As the attacking midfielder is expected back at the training centre today, and Tuttomercatoweb reveals he will be met with banners from the fans reading: “Don’t’ give up! Bergamo is with you.”
Ilicic, who moved to Bergamo from Fiorentina in July 2017, enjoyed a fantastic 2019-20 campaign up until the lockdown.
He scored 15 goals in Serie A, adding five in the Champions League across two legs against Valencia in the last 16 on March 10.
