Manuel Locatelli had ‘a dream debut’ for Italy in their 1-0 Nations League victory in the Netherlands. ‘It’s the best moment of my career.’
The former Milan midfielder is 22 years old and has been at Sassuolo since the summer of 2018.
“This was a dream debut,” Locatelli told RAI Sport.
“I think this is the best moment of my career, so I dedicate it to my family and my girlfriend, who stood by me through thick and thin.
“It’s going well, I hope to keep riding this wave and achieve more milestones.”
Despite being a debutant, Locatelli was one of the best performers on the pitch in Amsterdam.
“When you play alongside talented teammates, it all becomes easier. Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci really helped me, both on and off the field, they kept talking to me and that was important.
“I had some huge disappointments in my career, partly my own fault, now this is a rebirth. I want to enjoy this moment, but also keep my feet on the ground.”
