Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has travelled to Rome for tests after he tested positive for COVID-19 and developed a fever.

Both the 71-year-old movie producer and his wife Jacqueline tested positive following a weekend in Capri.

Multiple sources including news agency ANSA confirm they have now left their home in Capri by private yacht to reach their main residence in Rome.

This is so that they can self-isolate, but also be closer to the hospital facilities should their conditions deteriorate.

De Laurentiis and his wife were picked up from the dock by a specialist ambulance and taken for tests at the hospital in Rome, and doctors will then decide if it is necessary to admit them.

The Napoli President caused controversy for his decision to attend yesterday’s Lega Serie A meeting in Milan, even when he was waiting for COVID-19 test results.

He felt unwell, but insisted it was a bad reaction to oysters he had eaten in Capri over the weekend.

It’s reported that De Laurentiis was at the Lega Serie A meeting when the call came through confirming he was positive for the Coronavirus.

He then left, but was filmed on his way out of the venue stopping to talk with reporters and was not wearing his mask, nor did he urge the journalists to keep a distance.

Now all those who attended the meeting and had close contact with De Laurentiis must self-isolate awaiting their swab results.

De Laurentiis did not have any contact with the Napoli squad after Saturday, when he had tested negative, so the squad is not going to postpone friendlies.
