Udinese have signed former Fenerbahce and Besiktas midfielder Tolgay Arslan on a free transfer.

A statement on Udinese’s official website confirms Tolgay has put pen to paper on a two-year contract and will wear No 22.

“Arslan’s a versatile midfielder, who plays a valuable role in building moves and finishing them,” sporting director Pierpaolo Marino said of his club’s latest capture.

“He’s a player with great international experience.”

The 30-year-old does not fill a non-EU spot as, despite being of Turkish descent, he was born in Germany.

He began his senior career in Germany with Hamburg before moving to Turkey in 2015, signing for Besiktas, where he won two Turkish titles.

He moved to Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce three years later but was only a peripheral figure for them, managing just 33 appearances in two seasons.
