Roma released a statement assuring the hold-up for Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik is not related to his medical. ‘We have the utmost admiration and respect.’

The domino effect with Edin Dzeko to Juventus was meant to be sparked by Milik’s transfer to Roma, but those negotiations have stalled over the last 24 hours.

There were some reports that the Giallorossi were concerned at the results of Milik’s medical, especially as he has a history of ACL tears in both knees.

However, Roma released a statement this afternoon denying “any suggestions on the state of the negotiations and even more so on the physical condition of the player, for whom we have the utmost admiration and respect.

“The Club reiterates that it will not and never will comment on, in an official capacity or confidentially, on the health and fitness of a player who is registered to another club.

“Consequently, AS Roma reject the attribution of any judgment on the player’s fitness levels.”

The problem seems to be between Milik and Napoli, with circa €1m difference on personal terms regarding image rights, outstanding wages and above all the fine imposed for the November 2019 team ‘mutiny.’

Until those have been resolved, Milik cannot join Roma and Dzeko will not be released for Juventus.
