Napoli started their season with a 2-0 victory away to Parma, as Victor Osimhen came off the bench to inspire Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne goals.

The Partenopei initially set out in the traditional 4-3-3 formation and had huge problems breaking down Fabio Liverani’s Ducali at the Stadio Tardini.

It was only after Osimhen came on to shift their tactics towards a 4-2-3-1 that the balance of the match changed completely.

It was only after Osimhen came on to shift their tactics towards a 4-2-3-1 that the balance of the match changed completely.

All-time Napoli top scorer Mertens broke the deadlock by pouncing on a poor Simone Iacoponi clearance, trying to anticipate Osimhen.

Insigne was then ready to turn in the rebound when Hirving Lozano forced a save from Luigi Sepe.

There could’ve been more goals, but Insigne’s effort cracked against the upright and Matteo Politano tested the goalkeeper.
