Juve lawyers arrive in Perugia

Il Corriere dello Sport reports Juventus lawyers Luigi Chiappero and Maria Turco are in Perugia, meeting with the prosecutors who investigate the Luis Suarez case.

The Atletico Madrid forward, who moved from Barcelona this week, seemed set for a transfer to Serie A champions Juventus this summer.

But to be registered as an EU-player at the Old Lady, the Uruguayan had to undergo an Italian exam to obtain citizenship.

The move eventually fell through due to the delay and Suarez moved to Los Rojiblancos, but Guarda di Finanza, who were already investigating the University, reportedly discovered irregularities in the process and the FIGC’s Prosecutors Office has opened an investigation into the case.

Today, Il Corriere dello Sport reveals the Old Lady’s lawyers – Chiappero and Turco – have arrived at the prosecutor’s office in Perugia to meet the prosecutors investigating the Italian exam carried out by Suarez at the University for Foreigners in Perugia.

Amid wiretaps and leaked quotes in Italian media, Turco released a statement after the Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation, claiming there had been ‘no negotiation nor an agreement’ between the club and the University.

The newspaper reports Chiappero witnessed the conversations between Turco and the University’s general manager, who is under investigation.
