Benevento coach Filippo Inzaghi wants to show their opponents that the Streghe ‘seen in Serie A three years ago, no longer exists’.

The former Milan coach helped Benevento back to the top flight a record-breaking 2019-20 season in Serie B, and he was in a bullish mood ahead of their first match against Sampdoria in the new campaign.

“There’s a good feeling, but the pitch will tell us if we have done well or not, as always,” Inzaghi said at a press conference.

“After having played a great season in Serie B, we deserve to play at prestigious grounds like the Marassi.

“We will try to get the result, but an almost perfect Benevento will be n

eeded. If we leave the pitch showing that we have given our best, then we will have no regrets.

“If we then come out defeated, it means the opponent have been better.”

Inzaghi confirmed Gianluca Lapadula will be available against Sampdoria.

“Gianluca is well and can play. There will be five substitutions, and they will give us a big hand.

“We will have three games in a week, so there will be room for everyone.”

The newly promoted side are eager to show they are a changed side, as they return to the top flight.

“Our opponents must understand that the wind has changed,” he said. “It will take commitment and concentration, for every single match.
