Inter will reportedly look to bring in Chris Smalling from Manchester United if they sell Milan Skriniar to Tottenham Hotspur.

Skriniar has emerged as Tottenham’s top target to bolster their backline, and Gazzetta dello Sport claims Inter have now identified Smalling as his replacement.

The Englishman is back at Manchester United after spending last season on loan at Roma.

However, he appears to have no future at United, while Roma have yet to agree a permanent deal.

Inter enjoy a strong rapport with the Red Devils, given Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Ashley Young have all swapped Manchester for the blue side of Milan since last August.

For now, Sky Sport Italia warns there is distance between the Beneamata and Spurs with regards to Skriniar’s valuation.

Whereas Inter value the Slovak at €55-60m, explains the broadcaster, Jose Mourinho’s side are only willing to offer €30m plus players in exchange.

As Inter are in the process of streamlining their squad, it is unlikely they would accept any more players in return.

Despite that, Smalling could come in without Skriniar moving on as fellow stopper Diego Godin joined Cagliari earlier today.
