Massara: 'Hauge not a Milan priority'

Milan director Ricky Massara pours cold water over reports of a deal for Bodo/Glimt striker Jens Petter Hauge. ‘We have other priorities.’

“Sandro Tonali and Brahim Diaz have their first starts in Serie A, but they already gave a contribution off the bench in other games,” Massara told Sky Sport Italia.

“We’ve got a packed fixture list, so this is far from an easy test, as Crotone have their first home match and are enthusiastic. We need to be very wary. Only after the final whistle can we start thinking about Rio Ave and the Europa League.”

The transfer window is still open, so Massara was asked about interest in Saint-Etienne’s Wesley Fofana and Matija Nastasic of Schalke.

“Many names have been linked with Milan and it’s going to get even more intense as we head into the final week. Milan will not be unprepared if an opportunity emerges, but we are convinced that the squad we put together is already competitive. If we do make any moves, it’ll be with an eye on the finances.”

Sky Sport Italia also report that the Rossoneri are close to a deal for Bodo/Glimt forward Hauge, who scored against them in the Europa League on Thursday.

“People are getting ahead of themselves here,” assured Massara. “Bodo fielded several interesting players, including Hauge, but there’s nothing right now in terms of negotiations. It’s premature to talk about this and we frankly have other priorities in different areas.”
