Football Italia hires new Editor

Tiro Media is excited to announce Lorenzo Bettoni as the new Editor of Football Italia.

Lorenzo joins the team with a wealth of experience across Italian football journalism, including at Calcio Mercato, where he was content co-ordinator, news writer and reporter, and at Il Bianconero, where he served as Head of Content.

Based in Turin, Lorenzo will oversee an exciting new era forFootball Italia, beginning with the upcoming launch of the new website.

“I’m honoured to have been chosen as the new editor of Football Italia. I will bring the experience I’ve gained to keep growing a website which is such an important touchstone for millions of Serie A fans around the world,” Lorenzo said. “Football Italia is already the most popular English-language outlet about Serie A and Italian football and there is plenty of room to evolve and provide even more content to our incredible audience.”

Lorenzo succeeds Susy Campanale, who will remain an important part of Football Italia’s news and editorial team. “I have been working at Football Italia since before the website even existed, so I've seen many changes over the years. It has grown bigger and better, but it can do even more,” Susy said. “I am so proud therefore to hand over the reins to Lorenzo, who has the drive and fresh ideas to take the site into the next stage of its evolution.

“I am not going anywhere, don't worry,” Susy added. “The site is simply growing and we need more hands on deck to reach the destination we all want for Football Italia. Onwards and upwards, together.

“I've reached a stage in my life where I'd like to focus more on things that bring me joy and that means writing. With Lorenzo guiding us forward, I can feel confident the site is in good hands.”

Based in Turin, Florence-born Lorenzo has also contributed to FourFourTwo, Corriere della Sera and Calciopiu, having studied journalism in both Florence and London.

“We’ll soon launch a fresh re-designed website that will further enhance our readers’ experience,” he continued. “You’ll find new exciting stories about Serie A as well as exclusives and interviews straight from Italy. It’s a new journey we’ll embark on together with the amazing team at Football Italia and our wonderful readers. Andiamo!”

“We are delighted to welcome Lorenzo to the team, following a comprehensive and competitive application process,” Tiro Media director Rob Paton commented.

“Lorenzo brings experience, ambition and creativity to this role, and perfectly embodies the spirit and culture that has driven Football Italia as a media force for almost 30 years. We eagerly await this next chapter of Football Italia’s history.”
