Spadafora: 'The protocol is fine'

Minister of Sport Vincenzo Spadafora has claimed Ministry of Health representative Sandra Zampa was ‘too quick’ to say Serie A will be suspended.

After having come out of the lockdown in June, the new season has been hit with a new wave of coronavirus in football, and Zampa earlier said the championship will be suspended.

Genoa, who confirmed 14 cases of coronavirus in their matchday group, must postpone their match against Torino on Saturday and Napoli are currently waiting for the test results after their 6-0 win against the Grifoni last weekend.

Spadafora told La Gazzetta dello Sport that she was ‘too quick’ to comment and confirmed the current conditions won’t force Serie A to suspend the games.

“I want to be optimistic,” Spadafora told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “There are certainly no conditions to stop the championship.”

The Minister of Sport added that there’s no need to strengthen the protocol for now.

“It seems to me that this is not the time. The protocol is fine for now.”
