Fans have protested that the Biancocelesti don’t have enough strength in depth and did not invest cash after qualifying for the Champions League.

“The team is larger and with more depth than last season, and in my view is stronger too,” Tare told Sky Sport Italia.

“We need time to get the new players to settle in and they can give us a helping hand. With the arrival of Pereira, our transfer market is complete, with six new signings.”

It has been a low-cost summer for Lazio, who signed Vedat Muriqi from Fenerbahce, picked up free agents Pepe Reina and Gonzalo Escalante.

Andreas Pereira is on loan from Manchester United with option to buy for €27m.

Mohamed Fares from SPAL and Southampton defender Wesley Hoedt have not yet formally completed their transfers.
