Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp said Atalanta have ‘a really exciting project’ and expects ‘intense’ games in a 'strong' Champions League group.
Atalanta are back in the competition for the second time, after having reached the quarter-finals in 2019-20, and they face the winners from 2018-19 Liverpool in Group D.
The Reds coach Klopp said the group consists of ‘proper football’ and expects tough games against sides that ‘run a lot’.
“It’s a really strong group, everyone knows how good Ajax were two years ago, they always build a proper new squad,” Klopp said, according to This is Anfield.
“Atalanta have a really exciting project; they play pretty good stuff as well. It’s a proper football group, all teams run a lot, the games will be intense.”
