Italiano: 'One less Milan threat'

Spezia coach Vincenzo Italiano claims his side have “one less threat” to worry about as they get ready to face Milan which is still without Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Click here for the match preview.

The Serie A newcomers will meet a Rossoneri side that is still without the former Sweden star who is currently self-isolating after testing positive for COVID-19.

“They have some top players out of action,” Italiano admitted in a press conference ahead of the game. “They also played for 120 minutes on Thursday but at this level players are able to recover quickly and get back on track.

“We’ll have tough times against anyone, but Milan are without Ibrahimovic and it’s surely one less threat for us.”

The Liguri got the first three Serie A points in their history with a 2-0 away win at Udinese earlier this week: “We are happy because we wanted to get to the International break with some points. Against Milan it will be crucial to have attention and we'll need to be ready for sacrifice,” Italiano said.

“We had only two days to prepare the game, we’ll need to be extremely focused. We go to San Siro and we can’t get emotional. We need to improve and push because Wednesday’s win hasn’t changed much. It boosted our self-confidence, but we still need to improve.

“When you play against teams like Milan you need to give your 200 per cent and go beyond what you think you are. I hope they will not be at their best.”
