Benevento striker Gianluca Lapadula got a tattoo to celebrate his Peruvian heritage, but made a rather glaring error that will now be difficult to erase.
The 30-year-old was born in Turin to a father from the Puglia region of Italy and a Peruvian mother.
He was called up to play for Peru several times, but never ultimately accepted the offer.
Nonetheless, he wanted to celebrate this part of his life with a tattoo of an Inca warrior that he proudly showed off on social media with the Spanish caption: ‘My origins, half of my heart, half of my blood!’
However, users quickly pointed out what Lapadula had inked on his body was not an Inca at all, but rather a Native American, who would’ve been based in a different continent.
