Serie A risk having to reduce the number of spectators, as the Technical and Scientific Committee evaluate the current situation.
Calciomercato.com reports the authorities are considering cutting the number of 1,000 spectators in stadiums to 500, as the coronavirus outbreak continues to harm Italian football.
The many cases of COVID emerging in recent weeks, with 5,724 new cases in Italy yesterday, could stop the small step forward, as Serie A teams were allowed to host 1,000 fans for the first matches in 2020-21.
Last week, there were 20,989 cases of coronavirus in Italy, an increase of 54 per cent from the week before.
The report reveals Minister of Health Roberto Speranza will meet the CTS tomorrow, to propose a reduction to host a maximum of 500 people for outdoor events, which would also include Serie A.
