Atalanta President Antonio Percassi has revealed the negotiations with Manchester United over Amad Diallo ‘lasted almost a year’.
The 18-year-old has reached an agreement with Manchester United and will move to Old Trafford in January and the patron said they have been in talks with the Premier League giants for a long time.
“The negotiations lasted almost a year and you can feel how they work, how they manage enormous dimensions,” Percassi told L’Eco di Bergamo.
“This leads to the growth of the club and enriches the work of everyone, from the general manager Umberto Marino to the staff.”
The Red Devils closed a deal wroth €25m plus €15m in bonuses and 15 per cent on a future sell-on fee.
“It was an indispensable operation,” Percassi admitted. “If the boy becomes great, we will get recognition.
“If he’s not lucky, we are protected."
