Igli Tare says it would have been impossible for Lazio to sign Vedat Muriqi without the Covid-19 pandemic.
"If we weren’t living in times of Coronavirus, we wouldn’t have bought Vedat for this money,” Tare told Sporx.
The Biancocelesti signed the 26-year-old from Fenerbache for €20m in the summer.
“Perhaps we could not even do it at all,” Tare insisted.
“The pandemic gave us the opportunity to sign him.”
The Kosovo International has yet to make his debut with the Biancocelesti as he was tested positive for Coronavirus shorting after signing with his new club.
The player has now recovered and is ready to make his first appearance with the Serie A giants that face Sampdoria away on Saturday.
