This venue was chosen specifically as a gesture towards the town of Bergamo, which was hit harder than any other in Italy by the pandemic.

They were accompanied by Atalanta President Antonio Percassi and Mayor of Bergamo Giorgio Gori.
“The Nazionale had not played in Bergamo for many years, so this is a sign of attention and tribute to all those who lost their lives to this epidemic,” Mayor Gori told reporters.
“We are grateful and honoured by this sensitivity and receive it as a message of trust that encourage us to get back on our feet.”
There will be a huge Italian flag across the Curva Nord of the Gewiss Stadium, while 243 Mayors of the towns hardest hit by COVID-19 have been invited to attend, along with local hospital workers.
