Donnarumma: 'Good to remain unbeaten'

Gianluigi Donnarumma maintains it was ‘important to remain unbeaten’ after Italy’s 1-1 home draw with the Netherlands.

The goalkeeper was forced into a spectacular fingertip save on Memphis Depay to keep the result at 1-1 in Bergamo.

“We wanted to win and unfortunately we were unable to do it,” Donnarumma told RAI Sport.

“We had the best clear-cut chances and didn’t convert enough of them. It’s a pity, but it’s important to remain unbeaten.”

The Azzurri had won 1-0 in Amsterdam last month, but that remains the only Nations League victory along with three draws.

“Holland are tough, we know they are difficult to play against and I don’t think it was a step backwards compared to our performance in Amsterdam.

“Our aim is to win the next two in November and top the group.”
