Virgil van Dijk is set to miss both Liverpool’s Champions League games against Atalanta as the Dutch defender is reportedly set to undergo a knee ligament surgery.
The 29-year-old picked up a knee injury during Saturday’s Liverpool derby against Everton.
According to the BBC, Van Dijk would need surgery but it is unclear how long he will be out for.
Certainly, he won’t make it to return in time to play any of the Champions League group stage games of the Reds which include those against Atalanta.
La Dea will host Jurgen Klopp’s side at the Gewiss Stadium on November 3. Gian Piero Gasperini’s men will then travel to Anfield Road on November 25.
