Inter midfielder Nicolò Barella said ‘there’s a great strength among us’, when he explained why he’s so ‘proud’ of being Sardinian.
Barella arrived at Inter from Cagliari in July 2019 and completed his permanent move worth a total of €37m including the initial paid loan to the Nerazzurri.
As he prepares for the first match in the Champions League this season, Barella spoke about his roots and admitted the Sardinians ‘seem very closed’.
“The fact of being Sardinian, and above all from Cagliari, is a great pride for me,” Barella told Inter TV.
“We are certainly a population that seem very closed, but there’s great strength among us. For this I’m very proud.”
The 23-year-old, capped 16 times by Italy, has played 45 games for Inter since his move from the Casteddu and has established himself as a key member of coach Antonio Conte’s squad at San Siro.
