Milan winger Jens Petter Hauge hopes he’s at the beginning of ‘many good years to come’ for the Rossoneri and said it was ‘wonderful’ to play at San Siro.

Hauge moved from Bodo/Glimt to Milan after having impressed in a 3-2 defeat to the Diavolo in the third qualifying round of the Europa League this season.

He admitted it was ‘a great experience’ and took the ‘right decision’ when he signed a deal to return immediately to Milan.

“It was wonderful, it was a great experience for me, in a stadium like that and against a team like Milan,” Hauge said at a press conference. “It was the right decision to come back.

The Norwegian starlet has been praised as an ambitious player and Hauge himself pointed out that he’s part of a ‘good period’ for Norwegian players.

“It’s also one of the reasons that I decided to come here. There are so many great players here and I must definitely be at my best every day if I want to improve as a player,” he added.

“I think Norway have a lot of young players who are growing, and they all want to debut on the big stage, some are even doing it.

“For me, it’s a good period to be a Norwegian player. I have learned a lot from my peers and those who are a few years older than me.”

Hauge has claimed he’s versatile and can play several positions for his new club.

“I can play in different positions, as a left winger, in combination with the attacker, as a playmaker. I’m a player who wants the ball, to be dangerous and who wants to have fun with the support of the fans.”

Hauge revealed Milan had been looking at him before the impressive match with Bodo/Glimt at San Siro.

“Yes, they had scouted in Europe and had their eyes on me. Then after the preliminary rounds, they approached me.

“They know what I’m capable of.”

And the 21-year-old knows he has competition on the left wing at Milan, with Ante Rebic and Rafael Leao fighting for a place in the side.

“The competition doesn’t scare me. Competition is positive because I have to improve every day and in every training session. It motivates me and keeps me alive,” he said.

Hauge added that he spoke to Dortmund forward Erling Braut Haaland after signing with the Rossoneri and said Milan can ‘break new limits’ this season.

“It was a great feeling to sign the contract and start working,” he added. “Haaland is a friend of mine and I spoke to him, he just told me to have fun and to work hard.

“With the quality of the players, we can reach high levels this season. I want to be part of an ambitious team and break new limits and raise the bar.

“We hope this is the beginning of many good years to come.”
