Hofmann: 'Inter only look for Lukaku'

Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Jonas Hofmann said Inter’s game plan was to get the ball to Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku.

After a 2-2 draw at San Siro on Wednesday, Hofmann revealed it was ‘difficult’ to stop the centre-forward who bagged a brace to help the Nerazzurri pick up a point in the first round of fixtures in Group B of the Champions League.

“Inter tried 99 per cent of the time to give Lukaku the ball, he brings it down and allows the team to get up the pitch,” Hofmann told the club’s official website.

“It was difficult for us to always place two men on him, one in front and one behind. But in the end, I think the work we did was excellent.

“Overall, I believe we deserved the point we gained.”
