Antonio Candreva might miss Sampdoria’s next Serie A game against Atalanta with a thigh injury but could recover in time for the Genoa derby, reports in Italy claim.

According to Il Secolo XIX, the former Inter star underwent medical examinations yesterday which highlighted the resurgence of a problem with a scar of his femoral biceps of the left thigh.

Candreva stopped training on Wednesday and according to the report, Sampdoria coach Claudio Ranieri may decide to rest him for the upcoming Serie A clash against Atalanta.

Samp are due to face La Dea on Saturday but they have another very important meeting on November 1 with the Derby della Lanterna against Genoa.

Ranieri could rest Candreva against Atalanta in order to have him fit in the derby clash against Il Grifone.
